I had no idea plastic straws were so detrimental until reading this article. The video of a sea turtle having one removed from his nostril was heartbreaking. I won’t post it here because it’s so sad. There are alternatives to plastic straws such as paper, bamboo, glass, stainless steel or even corn-based! I urge you all to stay away from the plastic ones. We can totally make a difference!
I know cost is the biggest factor for restaurants at the moment. My suggestion to them would be if a customer wanted a straw, carry paper straws and charge a nominal fee.
In the meantime, you personally can buy some pretty sick straws at sites like www.greenmunch.ca or www.mylittlegreenshop.com.
